Law and medical practice history
From 1986 to 2004 Mr. Ewing was a partner with the Louisville firm of Gardner, Ewing & Souza. Prior to 1983, Mr. Ewing practiced with the litigation firm of White, Getgey & Meyer in Cincinnati, Ohio. He also served as the prosecutor for the City of Terrace Park, Ohio, during those years. Prior to his legal practice, Mr. Ewing served for four years as an Air Force medic both in the United States and overseas. His background also includes eight years as an emergency room technician and intravenous therapist at the Cincinnati Jewish Hospital. This medical experience led Mr. Ewing to the pursuit of medical litigation in his law practice.
Experienced in complex medical litigation
Mr. Ewing has extensive experience with complex litigation involving medical products and pharmaceuticals:
- Co-lead counsel in the successful national Cordis pacemaker litigation
- Co-counsel in the Miamisburg evacuation class action against CSX
- Retained by the Central States Teamsters Health and Pension Fund to monitor and recover losses incurred due to pharmaceutical industry price manipulation
Mr. Ewing is currently co-counsel for the Attorney General for the State of Ohio, pursuing recovery of losses to the state caused by practices of pharmaceutical companies.
A respected legal consultant
Mr. Ewing has litigated matters in Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Tennessee, South Carolina, New York, Florida, Alabama, California and Washington State. He was a consultant between the Cincinnati Bar Association and the Cincinnati Academy of Medicine in reaching a joint statement of understanding. He has authored litigation articles, including articles for the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers. He has served as a speaker at litigation seminars and Continuing Legal Education forums on the subject of complex litigation. He has been consulted by law firms and governmental entities regarding pharmaceutical pricing issues and prescription drug abuse. Upon invitation, he has consulted with the U.S. Congress, the U.S. General Accounting Office (GAO) and several state Attorneys General regarding pharmaceutical pricing and branded drug abuse issues.
